Prof. Junxian Zhao

Biography: 

Junxian Zhao is a professor, doctoral supervisor, and assistant dean of School of Civil Engineering, South China University of Technology. He is awarded the title of national high-level youth talent, and is the recipient of Guangdong Provincial Excellent Youth Team Fund, and Guangdong Provincial Outstanding Youth Scientific Fund. His academic positions include member of the Earthquake Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Engineering Branch of the Chinese Civil Engineering Society, member of the Earthquake Engineering Committee of the Chinese Earthquake Society, and member of the Professional Committee of Earthquake Prevention and Disaster Reduction of Infrastructure Engineering of the Seismological Society of China. His main Research Interests includes steel structures, modular integrated construction, structural seismic and passive energy dissipation systems, and seismic resilient structures, ect. His professional membership includes the editorial board of the journal of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the young editorial board of the journal of Earthquake Engineering and Resilience. In recent years, he has presided more than 10 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and provincial projects such as Guangdong Outstanding Youth Foundation. He has published more than 50 papers in high-level journals which have been cited by more than 1000 times. One paper was selected as one of the top 10 hot papers of the year in the journal of Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics. As the first awardee, he has won the first prize of Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award in 2019.

Assoc. Prof. Ahad Javanmardi

Fuzhou University, China

Biography:

Dr. Ahad Javanmardi is an associate professor at the College of Civil Engineering at Fuzhou University, China. He has over ten years of international experience in academia and industry. He obtained his doctorate in Structural Engineering and Materials from the University of Malaya (ranked 65thin 2021 QS World University Rankings), Malaysia, in 2019. Prior to this, he completed his master of engineering major in Civil-Structure from University Technology Malaysia, Malaysia, in 2014. He was awarded several research fellowships and grants such as China Postdoctoral Science Foundation fellowship and University Malaya Postgraduate Research Fund. His research interests are Bridge Engineering, Structural Dynamics, Earthquake Engineering, Soil-Structure Interaction, Structural Control Systems, Precast Systems, Vibration-Based Health Monitoring,Retrofitting and Strengthening, Digital Twin, Resilience and Smart Cities. He is an editor of several international SCI journals such as PLOS ONE, Buildings, Advances in Civil Engineering, Frontiers in Built Environment and Frontiers in Sustainable Cities. Further, he was an organizing committee member of IABSE 2018 Spring Conference and a scientific committee member of several well-known international conferences. Furthermore, he has published over 38 peer-reviewed articles (SCI and EI indexed), two book chapters, and two patents. Lastly. He has given speeches at several international conferences and taught online courses.
