Prof. Wei Hu

Biography:
Wei Hu, born in July 1982, is a professor, doctoral supervisor, and registered civil engineer (geotechnical) at Hunan University of Science and Technology. He earned his PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology in December 2008. He is a visiting scholar at the Royal Military College of Canada and serves as the Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory for Stability Control and Health Monitoring of Geotechnical Engineering in Hunan Province. Hu is a member of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering and holds positions in national youth working committees for soil mechanics and earthquake disaster prevention. He is a review expert for the National Natural Science Foundation and an evaluator for degree theses for the Ministry of Education. His research focuses on foundation and geotechnical engineering, particularly disaster prevention and mitigation. He has led two National Natural Science Foundation projects and six provincial-level projects, publishing over 70 academic papers, including nearly 30 in authoritative journals. He has authored one academic monograph, edited two collections, published two textbooks, and holds over 30 patents. Furthermore, he has hosted two national academic conferences and guided many students who have received prestigious honors, including National Scholarships and provincial awards.
Prof. Binhui Ma

Biography:
Binhui Ma, born in February 1984 in Shaoyang, Hunan Province, is a professor, doctoral supervisor, and department director at Hunan University of Science and Technology. He holds a PhD (postdoctoral) in Geotechnical Engineering from Hunan University and has been a visiting scholar at UCLA and UT Austin. Ma is a recognized candidate for the "Hunan Youth Talent" program and the "Xiangchuang Elite" program. Since January 2014, he has served as the Director of the Department of Highway and Bridge Engineering. He became the Deputy Secretary of the university's youth league committee in July 2016 and the Secretary in April 2019. Ma is a member of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering and the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering. He serves on various committees related to civil engineering and is an expert reviewer for National Natural Science Foundation projects. Additionally, he contributes as an emergency management expert and safety production expert in Hunan Province. Prof. Ma has received numerous honors within the region and Xiangtan City for his work in innovation and entrepreneurship.
