Prof. Wen Wan

Executive director of Hunan Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering

Biography:

Wen Wan, male, from Hengyang, Hunan, was born in February 1968. He is the Party Secretary of the School of Civil Engineering at Hunan University of Science and Technology, holds a PhD, is a professor (Title II), and serves as a doctoral supervisor. He is currently a member of the Soft Rock Association of the National Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, an executive director of the Hunan Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, and a board member of the Hunan Mechanics Society. He is also an editorial board member of the journal 'Mining Engineering Research' and a reviewer for journals such as the 'Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geoengineering,' 'Journal of Geotechnical Engineering,' 'Building Science,' and 'Geology and Exploration.' His main research areas include rock mechanics, monitoring of slope and underground engineering construction, and dynamic construction mechanics, among others. He has published over 100 papers. He has led a project that won the Second Prize for Invention from Hunan Province, and a Third Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress, and has participated in four Hunan Provincial Scientific and Technological Awards, as well as three awards from the China Construction Enterprise Management Association. He has also edited a textbook for undergraduate students and holds more than 20 authorized patents, including over 10 national invention patents. In recent years, he has hosted three National Natural Science Foundation projects, two projects from the Hunan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and has led over 40 industry collaboration projects.

Prof. Qiunan Chen

Biography:

Qiunan Chen, male, holds a PhD in Engineering, is a Title II professor and doctoral supervisor, and a member of the Communist Party of China. He is a recipient of the Hunan Provincial Government's Special Subsidy, an Outstanding Teacher in Hunan, and an Excellent Expert in Xiangtan City. He serves as a supervisory engineer and testing engineer in the Ministry of Transport and is involved in evaluating national and provincial Natural Science Fund projects and Science and Technology Awards. Currently, he is the director of the Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory of Stability Control and Health Monitoring of Geotechnical Engineering at Hunan University of Science and Technology. Chen has extensive experience in teaching and research for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students, having taught courses such as "Introduction to Civil and Environmental Engineering" (approved as a provincial first-class course) and "Tunnel Engineering." He has hosted a project for the Hunan Provincial Graduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base and guided over 60 postgraduate students. Chen has led three National Natural Science Foundation projects, eight provincial projects, and over 20 major enterprise-commissioned research projects. He has received four provincial-level awards for Scientific and Technological Progress and Natural Science, and two for Teaching Achievements. He has published over 80 papers in reputable journals like the "Journal of Civil Engineering" and "Journal of Geotechnical Engineering," edited two textbooks, and holds over 30 authorized invention patents.

Prof. Chaofeng Zeng

Leader of Civil Engineering Discipline of Hunan University of Science and Technology

Biography:

Chaofeng Zeng is a PhD (postdoctoral), professor, and doctoral supervisor, currently leading the civil engineering discipline at Hunan University of Science and Technology as a Xiangjiang Scholar. He serves as the director of the Analytical Testing Center and deputy director of the State-owned Assets and Laboratory Management Office. His research focuses on disaster prevention and mitigation in underground engineering. He has hosted 12 national and provincial projects including National Natural Science Foundation projects and Hunan Provincial Outstanding Youth projects. As the first or corresponding author, he has published 47 SCI/EI papers in high-level journals such as the "Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering" and "Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology." He has received the Second Prize of the Hunan Provincial Natural Science Award and holds 20 public patents. He has contributed to the publication of one translated work and two industry standards. Zeng is a member of various committees including the Soft Soil Engineering Committee of the China Civil Engineering Society and serves as a reviewer for 64 domestic and international journals. His primary research areas include disaster evaluation and prevention in geotechnical and urban underground engineering, environmentally friendly foundation support systems, groundwater management, and the theoretical assessment of defective and permeable piles.
